October 2007

Premier League

Charlbury Town

Difficult to select a winner this month with 3 teams having a perfect record.

Hailey, Freeland and Charlbury all recorded 3 league victories, with Hailey and Charlbury also notching up wins in the Fred Ford Cup.

Due to the dreadful start they made and they way that they bounced back, Charlbury take this months award.

Division One

Aston

Again a difficult month to select the winner with a number of sides in contention.

Witney Wanderers won 2 and drew one of their league games and recorded a victory in the Fred Ford Cup.  Witney Royals won both of their league games and knocked a Premier Division side out of the cup.

Aston had a 3 from 3 record in the league and they too defeated a Premier Division side in the Cup, therefore just edge this month’s award.

Division Two

Combe

Three teams had impressive records during the month, AC Finstock, Bampton Reserves and Combe.

AC Finstock defeated a higher division team in the Fred Ford Cup, won 2 league games and drew the 3rd.  Bampton Res record was also excellent with 3  wins and a draw in the league.

Combe also recorded 3 league victories, scoring 23 goals in the process and also registered a Fred Ford Cup victory and take the honours this month.

Division Three

FC Chequers

Two teams had perfect records in October, FC Chequers and Kingham Reserves.

Kingham picked up 3 wins out of 3 in the league and in doing so moved to the top of the table.

FC Chequers won both of their league games in impressive style and also recorded a 14-0 cup victory, but most importantly they defeated a Premier Division side in the Junior Shield.  For this reason, FC Chequers take the award for the 2nd month running.

Division Four

Hailey Reserves

In a division where everyone seems to be defeating each other, Hailey Reserves have continued their good form from September and were easily the outstanding team in this division.

The recorded victories in 3 of their 4 games and drew the other to climb to the top of the table.
