September 2007
Premier League
Cassington
A month into the season 5 clubs have retained an unbeaten record and two, Cassington and Ducklington, have 100% records. To see Duck at the head of the pile is of no real surprise considering the resources and players at their disposal.
Cassington, however, are a real surprise package. Expectations were not high going into the season with a bare bones squad, which did not even include a keeper. However, a couple of shrewed signings has seen the side excel and the have recorded victories over, Carterton, West Witney and Charlbury Town and are September's winners.
Division One
Minster Lovell
Just 2 sides remain unbeaten after the 1st month, FC Mills and Minster Lovell. Mills have actually only played the 2 games, winning one and drawing the other.
Minster have started in fine style, completing victories over one of their main promotion rivals Witney Royals on the opening day and Kingham the following week. A comfortable cup victory and an unlucky draw completed a good month for Minster.
Division Two
Bampton Town Reserves
Bampton Town Reserves and AC Finstock are the early pace setters in Division Two. Finstock struggled for most of last year, but with the addition of a few new faces and a change of management they have started the season well, winning 3 of their 4 games and drawing the other.
Bampton have carried off where they finished last season, winning and scoring goals for fun. They have played 4 and won 4 scoring 26 goals in the process. Promotion rivals Spartan Rangers Reserves and Combe have been hit for 8 and 7 respectively and even this early in the campaign they appear nailed on certainties for promotion and take this months award.
Division Three
FC Chequers
Four sides sit astride the Division Three table with unbeaten records. Minster Lovell Reserves, Kingham AB Reserves and Two Rivers have all dropped points because of draws. However, FC Chequers boast the only 100% record in the division.
They have scored 19 goals and only conceded 2 in the 4 games. Striker Kevin Davies has bagged 8 goals so far and is already looking a good bet for the division's top scorer. A County Cup tie against Premier Division opposition on Saturday will be a good yard stick to the progress they have made.
Division Four
Chad Park
Definitley the toughest division to select a winner from, with no one team standing out from the rest. Two teams Hailey Reserves and Chippy Swifts Reserves have won both league games but both have suffered reversals in the Cup.
Chad Park are the current leaders, they suffered a narrow reversal at the hands of Hailey Reserves in the opening week, but after that have won their next 2 league games impressively. They have also knocked out a higher division side in the Fred Ford Cup. In view of this they take this month's award.
